Timeout after struggle for male dominance
Male and female Vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) seemingly pausing peacefully and looking away after repeated attempts by male to steal fruit from the female and to mate with her. Female vervet monkeys prefer to mate with the alpha male (the ones with the brighter blue scrotum) and tend to reject the sexual solicitations of subordinate males. Captured in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania.
