Peeking through twig opening
Blue-naped Mousebird (Urocolius macrourus) peeking through a twig opening in dense tree foliage. The oval shape of the twig opening recalls that of the eye and lore. The Blue-naped Mousebird was also formerly called the blue-naped coly (Colius macrourus). The term “mousebird” comes from its habit of running along branches in a way that resembles the scurrying of a mouse. Captured in the foothills around Lake Eyasi, Tanzania.
