Eurasian Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) picking a dried berry from the bark crevice of an aging acacia tree. The name nuthatch is derived from the older term “nut-hack” which refers to its habit of wedging nuts and seeds in crevices of tree barks to hack at them with its strong bill. Photographer observed the foraging habit of this nuthatch which flew back and forth between two food caches hidden in separate acacia trees. This photo was captured from the closest food cache some 15 meters away from the photographer's balcony.
