Male Diederik cuckoo (Chrysococcyx caprius), formerly dideric cuckoo, perched on twig of Dhofari buttontree (Anogeissus dhofarica) and exibiting its glossy green upperparts with coppery-bronze areas and white fleckings. The male has a distinctly red eye surrounded by a red eye-ring. With its contrasty white underparts, the bird enhances the green tonalities of the background clustered buds, flowers and leaves of the Dhofari buttontree lending the scene a painterly look. Captured in Ayn Athum in the Dhofar Governorate of the Sultanate of Oman.
