Female Purple Grenadier on Acacia twig
The female Purple Grenadier (Granatina ianthinogaster) has a distinctive silvery purplish-blue patch above and below the eye and light cinnamon colored underparts with whitish spots or barrings. These birds are found in semi-arid thornbush, feed on termites and grass seeds and forage on ground, in undergrowth and in thickets. Captured in Wogakuria Hills, North Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
