Male Spot-flanked Barbet (Tricholaema lacrymosa) perched on fig tree with its back facing photographer and making eye contact by turning its head. Feeds on various fruit, e.g. mistletoe berries, Ficus and Cordia; also takes various types of insects, including ants and beetles; flies rapidly from site to site, working through foliage and moving over branches and trunks, when taking insects. In this photo, the background bokeh tonalities enhance the bird's silhouette and the curvature of the twig recalls the curvature of the folded wings. Captured in Wogakuria Hills, North Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
