Hovering feeder
Hovering hummingbird hawkmoth (Macroglossum stellatarum) maintaining stationary flight over wild sage (Lantana camara) while feeding. The self-generated air flow from the beating wings of a hawkmoth is powerful and capable of inducing flower motions. Hawkmoths compensate for such flower motions by tracking them through space to maintain contact with the nectary. (doi: 10.1242/jeb.02616)
