Soft lining for the nest
Female Village Weaver (Ploceus cucullatus) with blades of grass in its bill for soft lining the nest reaching completion. Males and females fly to and fro to collect blades of grass for nest building, the males collecting long and sturdy blades for constructing the bulbous nest, the females focusing on retrieving soft lining for the inside of the nest. The weavers often pause for a few seconds after harvesting the blades before flying back to their nest. Captured in the Eastern Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
