Warm greeting
Botswana elephants (Loxodonta africana) greeting each other by entwining their trunks. Elephants engage in various forms of tactile communication that function to reinforce bonds between family members where greetings may lead to trunk twining and gentle sparring. Between greeting males, the entwining of trunks is always slow and sensual.
