African green pigeon pair feasting on Rhus natalensis fruit
Pair of African Green Pigeons (Treron calvus) perched on a Rhus natalensis tree and feeding on its fruit. Green pigeons are frugivorous and like to congregate in fruiting trees, especially wild figs. They are often detected by their amusing song, which includes whinnies, clicks, whistles, cackles, and growls. It is rather unusual and hence picture worthy to be able to capture a pair of African Green pigeons in the open with both of them parallel to the camera sensor plane and thus being equally sharp. Captured around the Lemala Kuria Hills camp in North Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
